Winegrowing
cooperative ST. MARTINUS
priced with the „World Champion“ title at the world exhibition of
wines
in 1979 – wine cellars with tradition
The winegrowing cooperative ST.MARTINUS lies in the middle of the
Burgenland wine region in Austria, which is known as the region of
best varietals for the making of predicative and quality white
wines.
The winegrowing association ST.MARTINUS was established in 1939 and
took over the unique and rich Esterhazy’s cellars, which were
gradually rebuilt and modernized. By building a new cellar, the
capacity of the cellars substantially increased.
At
present, the overall capacity of the wine cellars is 5.7 million
litres of wine and the property of the winegrowing association is
divided into two parts:
- upper part – intake and processing of grapes, production of the
”hyper trauben mix” non-alcoholic grape drink;
- lower part – underground wine cellars;
- built-up areas and other free land of 5,500 m2.
The
grapes used for the production of predicative wines, which are sold
under the trademark ST. MARTINUS, are typical of their unique method
of harvest and ripeness. The sugar content of natural sweet juice
(natural sweetness without sugar additions) is at least 21° KMW (Klosterneuburger
scale degrees) for reap grapes or grapes with noble moulds and 30°KMW
for dry grapes harvest (shrivelled and overripe grapes with noble
moulds).
For our predicative wines sold under the trademark ST.MARTINUS and
for our branded cuvees (mix of carefully selected pure varietals),
the following varietals are used: Welsh Riesling, Chardonnay,
Burgundy White, Bouvier, Neuburger, Traminer, Grüner Veltliner. Our
dry grapes selection Premium is a cuvee of our best predicative
wines and offers a unique balance between sugar, acid and tannin
content and aroma.
The ST. MARTINUS trademark also stands for high quality dry and
half-dry wines of several varietals, typical for this region, such
as Greener Veltliner, Muller Thurgau, Welsch Riesling, Burgund White
or Neuburger.
